Accessibility

Prodel is committed to making learning accessible to everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology.

Our Commitment

We believe that quality education should have no barriers. Prodel strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA across all parts of our platform. Accessibility is a core requirement in our product development process — not an afterthought.

We conduct regular automated scans, manual testing with assistive technology, and periodic audits by external accessibility specialists to identify and address gaps. Our goal is continuous improvement, and we welcome feedback from users who encounter barriers.

Accessibility Features

The following features are built into the Prodel platform to support learners with diverse needs.

⌨️

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements — menus, buttons, forms, and course players — are fully operable using only a keyboard. Focus indicators are visible throughout the interface.

🔍

Screen Reader Support

Pages are structured with semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels so that screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver can accurately convey content and context.

🎬

Captions & Transcripts

Video lectures include closed captions, and full transcripts are available for download. Auto-generated captions are reviewed and corrected by our content team.

🎨

Colour & Contrast

Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text and UI components.

↔️

Responsive & Zoomable

Content reflows and remains readable when the browser zoom level is increased to 200 %. The platform is fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop viewports.

⏸️

Motion Controls

Animations and auto-playing content respect the "prefers-reduced-motion" media query. Users can also pause, stop, or hide any moving content from within the interface.

Supported Assistive Technologies

We test our platform against the following assistive technology and browser combinations. Other combinations may work, but these are the configurations we formally support.

Assistive TechnologyBrowser / OS
NVDA 2023+Chrome, Firefox (Windows)
JAWS 2023+Chrome, Edge (Windows)
VoiceOverSafari (macOS, iOS)
TalkBackChrome (Android)
Zoom (macOS)Safari, Chrome (macOS)

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some areas of the platform have known accessibility gaps. We are actively working to address each of them.

Third-party video player

Some keyboard shortcuts in the embedded video player may not work consistently across all screen readers. We are working with our player vendor to resolve this.

PDF course materials

Older PDF attachments uploaded before 2024 may lack proper tag structure. New uploads are required to pass automated PDF accessibility checks.

Complex data tables

A small number of reporting dashboards contain nested tables that may not read linearly in all screen readers. Accessible flat-table alternatives are planned for Q3 2026.

Standards & Conformance

Prodel targets partial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partial conformance" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the standard, primarily due to third-party integrations and legacy content described above.

We are working towards full Level AA conformance and aim to begin evaluating Level AAA criteria for our core learning flows in 2027.

Technical Approach

  • Semantic HTML5 landmarks and heading hierarchy used consistently throughout.
  • ARIA roles, states, and properties applied where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
  • Skip-navigation links provided so keyboard users can bypass repetitive content.
  • All form inputs have explicit, programmatically associated labels.
  • Error messages are associated with their input fields via aria-describedby.
  • Focus management is handled when dialogs open and close.
  • Images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images use alt="".
  • Colour is never the sole means of conveying information.

Feedback & Contact

We genuinely value feedback from users who experience accessibility barriers. If you encounter a problem that prevents you from accessing any part of the Prodel platform, please let us know and we will do our best to provide an accessible alternative or fix the issue.
